How to update your DNS Settings
To use your custom domain with Siimple, you need to update your DNS settings. This is done through your domain registrar’s website. If you’re not sure who your domain registrar is, you can use a service like Whois to find out.
Root domain records
For a root domain like yoursite.com
you’ll need to add the following two records:
Be sure to remove any old A records or AAAA records for your root domain or old CNAME entries for www in your DNS settings if your provider does not do this automatically.
Add an A record pointing @
to the IP address 137.66.61.42
Add a CNAME record pointing www
back to your domain without the www
(eg. yoursite.com
)
Subdomain records
For a subdomain like subdomain.yoursite.com
you’ll need to add one record:
Add an A record pointing subdomain
to the IP address 137.66.61.42
Where subdomain
can be any name you want to use.
Troubleshooting
If you run into issues, please ensure that you have:
Added new DNS records to your domain provider
Removed old DNS records
Waited up to 24 hours for new records to propagate
If after checking all of the above you are still having issues, please reach out to our support team.
Publish Your Site
After you have updated your DNS settings, you can publish your site to your new domain by clicking the Publish button in the top right corner of the Siimple editor.
⚠️ Now Wait
DNS Settings can take some time to propagate. Up to 24 hours is common. During that time you may see your website appear and disappear when you load your URL. This is normal as your changes update and spread across various internet service providers. If after 24 hours you see do not see your site load, please contact us so that we can double check your settings.
