How to Connect a Godaddy Domain Name to Siimple

Here's how to connect a Godaddy domain name to your Siimple website—and what to do if you get stuck and something doesn't work.

Updated this week

🔗 Step 1: Add Siimple’s A Record to Your GoDaddy DNS

  1. Log in to GoDaddy:
Head to your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio and click the domain you want to connect.

  2. Go to DNS Management:
Scroll down to Additional Settings and click Manage DNS.

  3. Add a New A Record:

    • Type: A

    • Name: @

    • Value (Points to): YOUR-SIIMPLE-IP (You’ll get this from your Siimple site editor under the Settings tab at the top.)

    • TTL: 1 Hour or leave it as default

  4. Click Save.

⚠️ Step 2: Delete Any Extra A Records

GoDaddy often adds default A Records that conflict with the one you just added.

  1. Still in the DNS Management section, scroll through your DNS records.

  2. Look for A Records with the Name set to @.

  3. Delete all of them except the one that points to your Siimple IP address.

    Example – what to remove:

    Keep this: @AYour Siimple IP

Click the trash can icon on the right to delete any conflicting records.

✅ Step 3: Wait for Propagation

Once your DNS settings are updated, changes may take a little time to go live—usually within 5–15 minutes, but sometimes up to 24 hours.

You can check if it’s working by typing your domain into a browser. If you see your Siimple site, you're good to go!

🧩 What if my domain still isn't working

GoDaddy sometimes keeps its own default A Records in place. If more than one A Record is listed for the same root domain (@), it can cause your site to break or not load properly.

You only need one A Record — the one Siimple gives you.

✅ How to fix this

Step 1: Log in to your GoDaddy DNS Settings

  1. Find the domain you're using and click it.

  2. Under Additional Settings, click Manage DNS.

Step 2: Delete Extra A Records

  1. In the DNS Records list, look for any A Records with the Name set to @.

  2. If you see more than one, delete all of them except the one that points to the Siimple IP (you should’ve received this IP from us).

    Example of what to delete:

    • Name: @, Type: A, Value: 34.98.99.100 ← Delete if this is not the Siimple IP.

    • Name: @, Type: A, Value: 198.71.233.254 ← Delete.

    • Keep only the one Siimple instructed you to use.

  3. Click the trash bin icon to delete.

😤 What If Can’t Delete It or It's Grayed Out?

GoDaddy sometimes locks certain default records and makes it impossible to delete them manually. In that case:

👉 You’ll need to contact GoDaddy Support and ask them to remove the extra A Records.

Let them know:

“I need to delete the extra A records for my domain because I’m pointing it to a third-party platform and it's conflicting with their settings.”

You can contact them here: GoDaddy Support

🔁 Once That’s Done…

It can take a few minutes to a few hours for your domain to point correctly to your Siimple site. If you’re still seeing an error after a while, double-check your DNS settings again or reach out to us—we’re happy to look into it with you.

📌 TL;DR

  • You should only have one A Record for your root domain (@)

  • Delete any extras in your GoDaddy DNS

  • If you can’t delete them, contact GoDaddy Support

  • Let us know if you need help.
