Step 1: Log in to Your Namecheap Account
Go to Namecheap.com and click on the “Sign In” button at the top right.
Enter your username and password and click the “Sign In” button again.
Step 2: Find Your Domain
Once you're logged in, click on "Domain List" on the left side of the page.
Find the domain name you purchased for your website (e.g., myamazingwebsite.com) and click the "Manage" button next to it.
Step 3: Add the A Record
In the Advanced DNS section, scroll down to the "Host Records" section.
Click the "Add New Record" button (or edit an existing A Record if it’s already there).
You’ll need to add or update the A Record:
Type: Select “A Record” from the dropdown.
Name: Type the symbol “@” (just the @ symbol).
Value: Copy and paste this number into the Value box:
137.66.61.42
TTL: Leave it set to "Automatic".
Click the green checkmark to save.
Don't see the option to 'Add New Record'?
If you do not see an option to add or edit DNS records, you may need to change your nameservers to Namecheap’s BasicDNS first. Here’s how to do that:
Change Your Nameservers to Namecheap’s BasicDNS
Scroll down to the section called "Nameservers".
You should see a dropdown that says “Find Nameservers” or “Nameservers”.
Click the dropdown and select Namecheap BasicDNS.
Click Save to apply this change.
Note: Once this change is saved, you may need to wait a few minutes for it to fully take effect. After this, you should be able to go back to the Advanced DNS tab and add or edit your DNS records.
Step 4: Add the CNAME Record
Now you’ll add the CNAME Record. In the same "Host Records" section, click "Add New Record" again.
Here’s what you’ll fill in:
Type: Select “CNAME Record” from the dropdown.
Name: Copy and paste the following
www
Value: use the name of your URL
yourwebsite.com
(Important: Don’t include "www." or "http://" here—just type your domain name exactly like this: "myamazingwebsite.com". If you accidentally add "www." or "http://", it won't work!)
TTL: Leave it set to "Automatic".
Again, click the green checkmark to save.
Step 5: Sit Back and Wait
DNS changes can take a little time, so don’t worry if your website doesn’t show up with your domain immediately. It can take up to 24 hours for everything to update. Just check back later!
You're Done!
Once the settings update, your domain will be connected to your Siimple website. Congratulations! 🎉
